Are radios on mp3 players any good?

Was told that radio reception was not very good on mp3 players. Having to decide whether to get mobile phone with radio or mp3 player with radio. Any suggestions please?

It depends on if you ever listen to the radio or not. I rarely listen to the radio on my mp3,so it basically has no use to me. The reception is good on both,but what you heard isn't all true- my mp3 has good reception (Grundig,red) and I can listen to it with no problem. I suggest a mp3,unless you're the type that likes to be in constant contact with friends by chatting. I'm more the musical type,so I got an mp3. Good luck in making your choice! ;)

My 512Mb Creative player is fairly basic, retailing at around 锟?0-锟?0. It plays FM radio perfectly, with no problems on interference, automatically picks up local stations for you as soon as you switch it on, has mp3 shuffle, voice record and data storage, and basically makes the Ipod look like a rip-off.
I own 2 Creative MP3 players and radio isn't great - it's got good sound quality for local stations but doesn't seem to pick up national stations - I don't use it because of this.

But my experience with radios on phones isn't good either - I don't find the reception very good - but they are probably better at picking up national stations.
Never known the need for one..

I recently dropped my sony NW-HD5 (for about the 50th time) and it decided not work this time (I guess it knocked something loose cause i hear a clicking). but anyway it would cost $100 just to see if it could be fixed. The new sony mp3 players are too small in GB for me, which sux cause i love sony.

I've been looking at several new types of mp3 players, but i'm not sure which to get yet. i may be overlooking a good option too so i decided to try yahoo answers.

I definitely need at least 20GB, price isn't really a factor, and any extra options like video playback and such is great too. Oh and i use iTunes a lot, do iPods only work with itunes?

If anyone can assist me on my decision by giving me their opinion or some available options please help :)

If it just music, only music, NOTHING BUT music, then just stick with the Ipod.

BUT.

If it's videos, photos, flash drive capability, fm radio, and Recording as WELL as music, then go for either the

ARCHOS 605 or the Zen Vision. Both have more hard drive space for the same money. Or in some cases, LESS money than the really pretty Ipod...

BUT The ZEN is NOW FLASH Drive Only (since you drop 'em so much!!) so no hard drive to crash.

The archos goes up to 160gb but it's hard drive and if you drop it, you gonna CRY....

iPods only work with iTunes, and it'll be really easy to use if you already know iTunes

and there are easily iPods over 20 gb

also, i heard zens were good, but they dont work with itunes
if you like sony mp3 get the sony A series its cool but i guess mp3 or ipod if you compare ipods are better the ipod touch thats 32 gb
I use an iPod Classic which is 80GB and will be perfect for you.

Use www.ciao.co.uk and look at the reviews for it. It's a fantastic player and plays music, video, you can view photos on it. It's good value and is a brilliant player. Plus you can only use iTunes for iPods so as you use it already it's a bonus :)
For the record, iTunes only works with iPods. So if you are looking into getting any other mp3 player, you need to burn those songs to a disc, then rip it back to your computer, to get rid of the DRM. This is only for songs purchased from iTunes, or any other subscription service.

Now, I recommend the Zune 80. It's only $50 more than the Zune 30 (It's $250), and it's worth it. It has a nice big screen, you can wirelessly share songs (which isn't huge; not a lot of people have Zune), wireless sync to your computer, and it comes with a built in FM tuner. And the screen is protected with glass, so it is scratch resistant. And you say you dropped your Sony alot...so the Zune is pretty durable. Right now, accessories are pretty limited, so that is the only downside. And there are bugs with the software, but there are workarounds. I personally think you get more for you money for a Zune rather than an iPod.

MP3 Hel!!!?

Okay, I'm trying to upload songs to my new MP3. My problem is I"m stuck on the part where the instructions say I have to plug in the device and Device Set up Wizard will walk me through the rest. It is not coming up. I checked device manager "My computer" and it shows it is installed. I uninstalled it hoping the device set up wizard would start but it won't so I can't upload my songs. Any ideas????

if your mp3 player was already installed, then maybe it installed automatically. try going forward a step and see if it works. if things don't work you can always just uninstall the mp3 player again. but don't trust me, because i don't want anything bad to happen to your computer or mp3 player

You can try reading the manual but you might have to put in the disc you received it with if your system is not windows 2000 or higher
If you can see the mp3 player showing up as a drive under My Computer, then you could probably just copy and paste your mp3s right into your player. That is what I prefer to do.

download itunes for free off of http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ then click on itunes store in the side bar of itunes. you can make an itunes account to buy music with a credit card or itunes card from any store like target or wal-mart. put a cd into your computer and click download cd when it pops onto your screen. put your ipod into your computer through the provided usb cable and the songs will automatically be synched

You can buy songs and burn songs to a CD.
You have to buy the songs from itunes in order to burn them to a CD. You can also copy the songs from itunes library into your ipod- which can be organized into playlists. You can buy a device that allows you to play your ipod/mp3 player in the car, eliminating the need for lots of CDs.

Is it possible to attach MP3 tunes to your yahoo email then upload them to your mobile phone as ring tones? I have noticed that there are online services that do this for you. Maybe you can do it yourself without these services?

It depends on your service provider. I believe many of them are filtering MP3 attachments into low quality audio files. T-Mobile does that on my service plan.
